Multi-paradigm modelling for cyber–physical systems: a descriptive framework

چکیده
Abstract The complexity of cyber–physical systems ( CPSs ) is commonly addressed through complex workflows , involving models in a plethora different formalisms each with their own methods, techniques, and tools. Some workflow patterns combined particular types operations on these formalisms, are used successfully engineering practice. To identify reuse them, we refer to combinations formalism as modelling paradigms . This paper proposes unifying (Descriptive) Framework describe paradigms, well combinations. work set the context Multi-Paradigm Modelling MPM), which based principle model every part aspect system explicitly, at most appropriate level(s) abstraction, using formalism(s) workflows. purpose Descriptive presented this serve basis reason about workflows, One crucial framework ability capture structural essence paradigm concept paradigmatic structure illustrated informally by means two example CPS: Discrete Event Dynamic Systems Synchronous Data Flow. also identifies need establish whether candidate follows, or qualifies as, (given) paradigm. illustrate support combining shows examples both intended for characterisation classification starting point rigorous formalisation (allowing formal analyses), foundation MPM tool development.

A Framework for Modelling Multi-agent Systems
Modelling and reasoning about multi-agent systems has been one of the main problems for designers of distributed systems. In this paper we present a logical framework for representing and reasoning about these systems. The framework uses the idea of contexts as presented by Giunchiglia and his colleagues and the ideas regarding multi-agent systems as presented by Morley, George , and Rao. The n...
متن کاملMPM4CPS: Multi-Paradigm Modelling for Cyber-Physical Systems
The last decades have seen the emergence of truly complex, designed systems, known as Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Engineering such systems requires integrating physical, software, and network aspects. To date, neither a unifying theory nor systematic design methods, techniques and tools exist to meet this challenge. Individual engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, network a...
متن کاملDesign of a Modelling Framework for Multi-Agent Systems*
Multi-agent systems can be successfully modelled and specified as interacting complex components in a compositional architecture. Compared to the specification of single agent compositional systems, the specification of multi-agent systems requires additional design (or modelling) choices. In this paper, design choices regarding interaction and autonomy of compositional models of intelligent ag...
متن کاملMulti-Level Languages: a Descriptive Framework
Two-level λ-calculi have been heavily utilised for applications such as partial evaluation, abstract interpretation and code generation. Each of these applications pose different demands on the exact details of the two-level structure and the corresponding inference rules. We therefore formulate a number of existing systems in a common framework so as to conceal those differences between the sy...
متن کاملA Multi-Paradigm Framework for Decentralised Process Modelling and Support Environment – an Overview
The globalisation of economies leads to an increasing trend in distributed global processes, where different parts of the process are spread across numerous organisations. This paper is an overview of some ideas that came up during the ongoing research of the issues associated with global business and software engineering processes. These ideas mainly attempt to address the support for heteroge...
